As a Functional Assessor, you’ll use your existing clinical knowledge, assessment skills and professional judgement in a completely different environment, helping assess how a person’s health conditions affect their daily living or their ability to work and carry out work-related activities.
No nights. No weekends. No long shifts. No hands-on care.Instead, you’ll have a structured Monday-Friday working pattern, comprehensive training and the opportunity to build a long-term career outside traditional frontline healthcare.
What will you be doing? You’ll conduct assessments with individuals who have a range of physical and mental health conditions, using structured questioning to understand:
- Their medical history and current conditions
- How their health affects their day-to-day functioning
- Their physical, mental and cognitive abilities
- How their conditions may affect their ability to work
- Relevant medical evidence and clinical information
You’ll then use your clinical reasoning and professional judgement to produce clear, objective and evidence-based reports.
The role is challenging, but the challenge is different from frontline clinical work. You’ll need strong communication skills, attention to detail, clinical reasoning and the ability to manage your workload effectively.
