Finance Manager

Overview

In this Finance Manager role, you will lead the day-to-day finance function for a growing family-run organisation in Chorley. You will provide accurate financial information, commercial insight, and strategic support to senior management. The position combines strong technical accounting with business partnering, financial analysis, and team leadership to drive efficiency and financial discipline. You will work closely with stakeholders to shape planning, control, and financial strategy, including support for acquisitions and business growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
• Produce management reporting with variance analysis
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, debtors, creditors and banking
• Provide financial analysis, modelling and insights for business decisions
• Support acquisitions and new business activities from a finance perspective
• Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial records and systems
• Maintain robust financial controls and processes
• Coordinate external audits and respond to audit findings
• Identify financial risks and implement controls and mitigations
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to provide commercially focused financial advice
• Identify opportunities for efficiencies and continuous improvement in the finance function
• Lead, coach and develop finance team members

Key requirements

• Experience in a Finance Manager or senior accounting role
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and financial analysis
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
