Senior Machine Learning Engineer, AV Core

Overview

In this senior role, you lead data enrichment initiatives within Wayve’s Core Model Safety team to enhance collision avoidance and model robustness. You work across training, reward modelling, and data platforms to mine hard events and validate real-world performance. You will shape the ML infra and workflows that power scalable, reliable autonomous driving systemen. This role combines hands-on engineering with cross-team leadership to drive safe, scalable AI for driverless operation.

Responsibilities

• Lead large-scale data enrichment and curation initiatives across Pre/Midtraining, reward modelling, self-supervised labelling, and the Data Enrichment Platform
• Build workflows for enrichment, curation, and hard/rare event mining to support robust model performance and introspection
• Design and train out-of-distribution detection mechanisms for robust driverless operation
• Bridge model engineering, infrastructure, compute, and data to shape cross-team architecture
• Improve overall efficiency of the ML and operations stack

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience with ML systems deployed in the real world
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch with strong software engineering practices
• Experience with ML operations and infrastructure, distributed computing environments, and large-scale inference
• Senior-level ownership and collaboration abilities with clear communication across teams
