Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview

As an Electrical Design Authority at ABB Motion, you shape the electrical engineering discipline across projects. You’ll balance design rigor with cost-effective delivery while aligning with contract specs, safety, and cybersecurity standards. You’ll collaborate with tendering and engineering teams to translate concepts into robust solutions. This role offers meaningful impact by improving reliability and standardisation across projects.

Responsibilities

• Shape and deliver electrical design solutions across multiple projects
• Create work plans and cost estimates for project portfolios
• Execute engineering elements and produce design and test documentation
• Coordinate manufacturing, staging, testing, installation and commissioning
• Coach colleagues on translating concepts into engineering documentation and lessons learned
• Support FAT and SAT, resolve technical issues and ensure system performance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve reliability and efficiency

Key requirements

• 10+ years in design of power and control systems with variable speed drives
• Proven experience as a System Design Engineer with VSD and motor technologies
• Proficient in electrical design software, especially ePLAN
• Strong understanding of industrial power systems, control philosophies, and system integration
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Excellent English communication skills
