Junior Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support the CST by focusing on cloud infrastructure, IaC and CI/CD for the content supply chain. You’ll work with AWS resources, serverless components, and Scala-backed services, alongside senior engineers. The role blends infrastructure work with occasional code changes in Scala/JVM. You’ll contribute to reliable deployment pipelines, observability, and production issue resolution. This is a hands-on, growth-focused 1-year fixed-term position that helps ITV scale content delivery and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

• Write IaC using Terraform to provision AWS resources
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions
• Replicate, adapt and deploy microservices and serverless components across supply chain products
• Troubleshoot production issues using Grafana and Prometheus
• Maintain high system quality with a strong testing mindset
• Work in Scala/JVM codebases to update and integrate services
• Collaborate through pair programming and agile teamwork

Key requirements

• Minimum 2 years of commercial software or infrastructure engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Terraform and AWS services (Lambdas, IAM, ECS, S3)
• Experience with functional programming concepts (Scala, Java Streams, Haskell)
• Comfort using IDEs (IntelliJ IDEA, VS Code)
• Strong troubleshooting and logical problem-solving skills
• Rigorous testing mindset for pre/post deployment validation
