Front End & AI Developer

Overview

As a Front End & AI Developer in East West Rail’s Data Centre of Excellence, you will design modern web interfaces and build AI-enabled applications. You’ll work with enterprise data, APIs, and Microsoft technologies to deliver secure, grounded AI agents and dashboards. You will collaborate across disciplines to create user-centric experiences and scalable AI solutions that support a major UK infrastructure programme. This role offers hands-on AI development with a focus on responsible, governable AI in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and build modern, responsive web applications and interfaces
• Develop AI agents using Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry and related Microsoft technologies
• Create agent workflows with enterprise data, APIs, actions, orchestration, and human oversight
• Ground AI solutions in trusted data via Fabric and Azure
• Securely integrate AI agents with business systems and Microsoft 365 services
• Apply responsible AI, governance, security, testing, and monitoring throughout the lifecycle
• Deliver intuitive front-end experiences for interacting with AI agents and automated processes
• Collaborate with Power Platform specialists for seamless user experiences
• Evaluate agent quality, performance, grounding, safety and business outcomes
• Support adoption of M365 Copilot and maintain technical guidance and training materials
• Contribute to agile delivery, code reviews, testing and continuous improvement
• Establish reusable patterns, components and standards for scalable AI delivery

Key requirements

• Hands-on experience designing, building, testing and deploying AI agents or AI-enabled applications
• Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio or Azure AI Foundry (or comparable platforms)
• Experience integrating agents with enterprise data, APIs and automated workflows
• Understanding of grounding, retrieval-augmented generation, orchestration, prompt design and human oversight
• Knowledge of responsible AI, data security, monitoring and governance for production AI
• Strong front-end development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with modern frameworks (React, Angular or similar)
• Passion for accessible, user-focused and visually engaging digital experiences
• Knowledge of APIs, authentication and cloud technologies
• Experience with GitHub and collaborative development practices
• Knowledge of Azure services and integration approaches
• Experience with dashboards, analytics or data-driven applications
• Interest in AWS technologies and willingness to develop AWS skills
