Apply for the Cloud Network Performance Engineer
Location: London
Job Description:

London – Hybrid – Up to £250k-300k+ total

Quant Capital is working with a leading proprietary trading firm seeking a Cloud Performance Engineer to optimise the infrastructure supporting latency-sensitive trading workloads.

The role sits at the intersection of cloud engineering, networking and software development. You’ll work across AWS and hybrid environments, analysing performance, identifying bottlenecks and building the systems and tooling needed to improve latency across distributed infrastructure.

The role

  • Design and optimise AWS and hybrid-cloud infrastructure for performance-critical workloads, particularly EC2, VPC and Direct Connect.
  • Develop monitoring systems to measure network latency, identify performance issues and analyse behaviour across distributed workloads.
  • Build Python-based backend services and tooling to collect, process and query performance metrics.
  • Automate cloud provisioning, network configurations and server-side processes using Terraform, Python and Bash.
  • Work closely with Linux, network and software engineers to investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong AWS engineering experience, particularly networking, compute and hybrid connectivity.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, network protocols and the Linux network stack.
  • Solid Python development skills, with experience building automation and maintainable tooling.
  • Practical Terraform and infrastructure-as-code experience across cloud and networking environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and an understanding of performance analysis across complex systems.
  • A security-conscious engineering approach and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.

Useful experience

  • Cisco networking and Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Go or C++ development.
  • GCP, serverless orchestration or performance data pipelines.
  • Linux kernel bypass technologies such as DPDK.

This is a hands-on engineering position suited to someone who understands how networks and systems behave under load, can investigate latency at a technical level and has the software skills to build lasting solutions.

All applications are handled in confidence. Your details will only be shared with the client with your permission.
