Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Overview

In this role you will build and deploy production-grade AI systems to operate in secure, highly controlled defence environments. You will work with an expert engineering team to advance agentic AI, LLM orchestration, and multimodal systems from research to production. You will tackle reliability, safety, and deployment challenges at scale, delivering impact in real-world, regulation-conscious settings. This is an office-first, UK-based opportunity with flexibility and a clear route to responsibility and autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy production-grade agentic AI systems
• Work on LLM orchestration, agent architectures and model optimisation
• Explore multimodal AI, computer vision and real-time sensor data
• Own AI systems from research and prototyping through to production
• Address reliability, safety, scalability and deployment challenges
• Collaborate within a strong engineering team with technical autonomy

Key requirements

• Strong foundations in machine learning, deep learning and applied mathematics
• Production experience building agentic AI / LLM-based systems
• Proficiency in Python, Rust, C++ or Java
• Experience with PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow or agent orchestration frameworks
• Excellent engineering judgement and ability to turn research into production-ready AI
• Genuine interest in solving difficult technical problems with real-world consequences
