Sector: Building ControlWe are recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Berkshire for an experienced Registered Building Inspector to join their Building Control team on an initial 6 month contract.The role will involve carrying out building control inspections and ensuring that building work complies with the Building Regulations and relevant legislation. You will be working across a varied range of projects and dealing with developers, contractors, architects and other professionals on a day-to-day basis.The main responsibilities will include:
Carrying out site inspections at various stages of constructionAssessing building work for compliance with the Building Regulations and relevant legislationReviewing plans, specifications and technical informationIdentifying non-compliance and providing advice where requiredLiaising with developers, contractors, architects, engineers and other stakeholdersProviding technical advice on Building Control mattersMaintaining accurate inspection records and completing reportsManaging your own workload and prioritising inspectionsEnsuring inspections and decisions are carried out in line with legislation and professional standardsKeeping up to date with changes to Building Regulations and industry guidance
The successful candidate will have:
Class 2A + RBI registrationPrevious experience working in Building Control, ideally within a Local AuthorityGood knowledge of the Building Regulations and associated legislationExperience carrying out building inspections across a range of projectsGood knowledge of construction methods, materials and practicesThe ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and technical informationGood communication skills and the ability to deal confidently with a range of stakeholdersThe ability to work independently and manage a caseloadStrong attention to detail and sound technical judgement
