Apply for the Financial Accountant
Location: London
Job Description:

Salary Guide: £60,000 – £70,000 + Benefits

REF: LJ54186

Our client is an ambitious, well-funded, international biotech operating across the globe. Following a successful Series A funding round, the company is preparing for its next phase of growth, including a potential listing. The business is led by an experienced management team with a strong track record of taking businesses through successful IPOs and/or acquisitions.

Description

Reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with the CFO, the Financial Accountant will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function. Initially, the role will focus on strengthening the month-end process, supporting US GAAP reporting and conversions, and preparing financial statements under US GAAP and FRS 102.

Responsibilities will include balance sheet reconciliations, journals, prepayments, accruals and intercompany accounting, alongside supporting quarterly and year-end audits. The role will also involve preparing R&D tax credit claims, coordinating tax compliance, maintaining the fixed asset register, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. In addition, the successful candidate will support the development of financial controls in preparation for SOX compliance and contribute to the potential implementation of a new ERP system.

The London-based finance team provides centralised support to the group’s international operations, with transactional processing undertaken by an offshore team. The role will therefore suit someone comfortable working across jurisdictions in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Skills

The successful candidate for this Financial Accountant role will be a recently qualified accountant, trained within practice, with sound technical accounting skills. Ideally, they will have experience working with clients in relevant sectors and exposure to US GAAP and SOX requirements. They will be proactive, detail-oriented and able to take ownership of their work, with the communication skills and adaptability to operate effectively across the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious newly qualified accountant to move into industry and gain broad exposure to international reporting, tax and financial controls, while contributing to the development of the finance function ahead of the company’s next stage of growth.
