Backend Engineer – Send Experience

Overview

As a Backend Engineer in Wise’s Contacts squad, you will help build scalable backend solutions powering how customers interact with recipients. You’ll contribute to a platform that manages hundreds of millions of bank accounts and integrates local payment methods like Pix. Working in an autonomous, cross-functional team, you’ll ship reliable features that keep Wise’s recipient experience fast and resilient. This role offers impact in a mission-driven, inclusive, agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Build backend features powering recipient interactions
• Contribute to a scalable platform handling tens of millions of accounts
• Work on search algorithms and local integrations (e.g., Pix) for discovery
• Collaborate closely with designers, product manager, and analysts
• Operate within an agile, cross-functional team across Tallinn and London
• Ensure reliability and robustness of services for day-to-day operations
