London | £55 per Hour | Long-Term Contract

We are working with a well-established council seeking several Housing Compliance Officers to join their Private Sector Housing team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in improving housing standards, protecting tenants, and ensuring landlords meet their legal responsibilities across the borough.
The Role
As a Housing Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for inspecting residential properties, identifying areas of non-compliance, and working proactively with landlords, agents, and tenants to achieve and maintain high housing standards.
You will have the autonomy to manage your own workload while contributing to a wider programme focused on raising standards within the private rented sector.
Key Duties
- Conduct property inspections across the borough.
- Assess compliance with housing legislation, licensing conditions, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify breaches and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate case records.
- Liaise with landlords, managing agents, tenants, and internal stakeholders.
- Support a range of private sector housing and compliance initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working within a Local Authority Private Sector Housing team.
- Proven experience carrying out housing inspections and compliance assessments.
- Strong understanding of housing legislation and property licensing schemes.
- Excellent report-writing and case management skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage a busy caseload.
