Project Manager

Overview

As Project Manager for CUES, you lead delivery of a critical sonar development for Astute-class submarines within Thales Underwater Systems. You will steer multi-site teams, governance forums, and cross-functional interfaces to secure on-time, on-cost outcomes. This role combines strong leadership with proactive risk and opportunity management in a high-stakes defence environment. You’ll influence project strategy and ensure robust baseline controls, delivering measurable impact for naval sensing capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Motivate and support the work-package team; foster delivery accountability
• Model Thales leadership behaviours and embed proactive risk/opportunity management
• Manage stakeholders through open dialogue with engineering, industry, and procurement
• Define execution strategies; create and maintain schedule baselines for work packages
• Maintain robust baselines and accurate forecasts during lifecycle
• Establish and monitor KPIs for planned outcomes (e.g., On Time Delivery)
• Represent project at governance reviews; liaise to drive quality, cost and delivery performance
• Lead change to baselined scope; coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and supply chain
• Capture and share lessons learned across the business
• Ensure compliance with Thales Chorus 2 processes

Key requirements

• Experience delivering projects in a complex, multi-site organisation
• Proven ability to manage customer and supplier relationships
• Strong project planning, controls, and governance drafting
• Directing activities to baseline, critical path, and proactive risk/opportunity management
• Project financial and contractual management
• Resource forecasting and cross-functional scheduling
• Evidence-based project progress reporting to Senior Management
• Security Clearance: SC (desirable or to be pursued)
