Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will deliver instrumentation and control design across feasilibity to construction stages, supporting Murphy’s multidisciplinary engineering teams. You will manage scopes of work, interface with design houses, and produce complete C&I design deliverables for gas pipeline and compressor station projects. Your work will focus on safe, compliant designs that enable economical, sustainable solutions across multiple sites. You will engage with clients and internal teams to drive successful, on-time project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop tender Scopes of Works and submissions
• Produce C&I design deliverables including calculations, cables, diagrams, layouts and general arrangements
• Deliver C&I packages across feasibility, FEED, detailed design, construction support and verification
• Interface with external design houses and internal teams to meet fixed cost and programme targets
• Undertake site visits and investigations when appropriate
• Participate in and manage Formal Process Safety Assessments (DSEAR, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL) and functional safety activities
• Ensure quality and timely delivery of design documentation for Scope of Works
• liaise with other departments to align design requirements

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation or Control Engineering
• Experience with hazardous areas
• CompEx12 certification preferred
• Chartered Engineer with IET or similar or working towards chartership
• Experience in Oil & Gas and familiarity with IGEM standards for gas pipeline and installations
• Knowledge of Electrical and Instrumentation Specifications and Standards including G/17 and G/35 design assurance processes
• Strong technical report writing skills
• Feasibility, conceptual and detailed design experience for Natural Gas Compressor Stations, Above Ground Installations and Pipelines
