Job overview
If you enjoy variety, thrive in a fast-paced environment and get real satisfaction from helping other clinicians grow, this is an exciting opportunity to take the next step in your career with NHS Northamptonshire Talking Therapies.
The Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Senior PWP) role is at the heart of our Central Team. A significant part of the role involves supervising and developing other clinicians, (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Assistant Psychologists or Mental Health Support Practitioners), supporting them to manage busy caseloads, think confidently about clinical decisions and deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. These colleagues will be primarily delivering assessments as well as structured interventions such as groups, webinars or computerised CBT (SilverCloud).
You will also play an important role at the front door of our service, working within our assessment and triage function and helping us respond effectively to people who may be distressed, overwhelmed or unsure of what support they need. You will use your clinical judgement to help make sense of complex presentations, manage risk and ensure people are directed towards the right treatment or support at the right time.
The role requires you to be comfortable thinking on your feet, prioritising competing demands and making sound clinical decisions, whilst knowing when to seek support yourself or elevate concerns.
Main duties of the job
- Supporting staff to deliver quality assessments, treatment and support to people accessing the service.
- Providing high quality supervision, support, and a focus on wellbeing for staff providing assessments within the service.
- Offer expert clinical support and guidance to Step 2 staff.
- To ensure National Talking Therapies standards are met.
- To contribute to learning and development of PWP, Assistant Psychologists, Mental Health Support Practitioners and peer supporters.
- To provide some clinical intervention at step 2 for people with common mental health problems, particularly supporting with our groups and webinars programme.
