Configuration Engineer / Manager

Overview

In this role, you will manage and protect engineering configurations across complex programmes in a highly regulated environment. You will work with cross-functional teams to keep documentation, baselines, and data accurate and traceable, ensuring compliance with governance standards. The position requires SC or DV clearance and offers hybrid working in Reading. You’ll drive change control, audits, and data integrity to support regulatory readiness and project success. This is an opportunity to shape configuration management practices on nationally significant programmes.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain Configuration Items (CIs) and ensure version control across drawings, specs, and artefacts
• Establish, protect, and manage approved engineering baselines and release/maintenance of baselines
• Administer change control processes, coordinate requests, and ensure traceability of changes
• Produce accurate configuration status reports and track baseline evolution throughout the lifecycle
• Plan and conduct physical and functional configuration audits; identify discrepancies and drive corrective actions
• Ensure data integrity and governance, promote best practice, support audits and regulatory compliance

Key requirements

• Experience in Configuration Management, Engineering Change Control, PLM, Technical Data Management or similar
• Strong understanding of configuration management principles and lifecycle governance
• Experience handling technical baselines and configuration records
• Knowledge of engineering change processes and governance
• Experience producing configuration status reports and MI
• Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
• SC or DV clearance
