Overview

In this role you will drive mechanical design within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, well-coordinated design solutions for complex built-environment projects. You will collaborate with internal and external specialists, take ownership of project tasks, and communicate effectively with clients to align design outcomes with briefs. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with mentoring of junior engineers and opportunities to work on a diverse portfolio, including international projects. Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical services design on large projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams on smaller projects
• Supervise and mentor junior Mechanical Engineers
• Develop and deliver coordinated design solutions reflecting client briefs
• Engage with clients to understand needs and manage expectations
• Work across a varied portfolio including science labs, hotels, higher education, commercial and mixed-use developments
• Support resource planning and ensure outputs meet quality standards

Key requirements

• Ambitious, creative and driven
• Excellent technical knowledge in Mechanical Design Engineering
• Thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design
• Consultancy experience with awareness of acoustics, fire engineering and computer modelling
• Autonomous approach and ability to lead small/medium projects
• Ownership of output quality and client-facing skills
• Mentor and supervise junior staff
• Chartered engineer or close to it (professional status)
