The roleAs a Transport manager you
will be responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of transport activities,
managing drivers and vehicle movements, ensuring customer requirements are met, and maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and
operational
efficiency. The role will include:
Manage and oversee the day-to-day transport operation.•
Plan and coordinate daily workloads, vehicle movements and driver allocations.
•
Ensure sufficient drivers and
vehicles are available to meet operational and customer
requirements.
•
Monitor progress throughout the day to ensure planned work is completed on time and efficiently.
•
Communicate with drivers regarding job allocations, schedules, delays and operational changes.
•
Liaise with customers, subcontractors and the night transport team to ensure smooth operational
handovers.
•
Deal with operational issues, delays, breakdowns, driver absences and last-minute changes.
Essential Skills & Experience
•
Valid Transport Manager
CPC
qualification – essential.
•
Previous experience in a Transport Manager, Transport Supervisor or senior transport role.
•
Strong HGV/haulage experience.
•
Good knowledge of UK transport legislation and Operator
Licence
requirements.
•
Strong understanding of drivers’ hours and Working Time Regulations.
•
Excellent planning,
organisational
and communication skills.
