Company: The Opportunity Hub UK Ltd
Apply for the Capital Projects Manager
Location: Cardiff
Job Description:

Step into this Capital Projects Manager role and build something that matters in Property & Construction.

Cardiff’s construction sector is in the middle of a genuine upswing, with regeneration schemes and commercial developments reshaping the city and the wider South Wales region. The company behind this Capital Projects Manager vacancy is an established SME in Property & Construction, one that’s grown steadily and now needs someone who can take ownership of capital works from planning through to handover. This isn’t a role where you’ll be shadowing decisions. You’ll be making them.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Managing capital project budgets from initial costing through to final account, flagging variances before they become problems
  • Coordinating contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders across live construction sites
  • Running procurement processes for materials, subcontractors and professional services
  • Monitoring project timelines and adjusting resourcing when schedules slip
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance across every site under your remit
  • Reporting project status and financial performance to senior management on a regular cycle

Here are the skills you’ll need:

  • Solid experience managing capital projects within Property & Construction, ideally at a mid-level with clear examples of delivery
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts (JCT or NEC experience is a strong plus)
  • Comfortable reading budgets and financial reports without needing everything translated for you
  • Sharp communication skills. You’ll be the person contractors, clients and directors all need to trust
  • A methodical approach to risk and problem‑solving under pressure
  • Relevant qualification in construction management, quantity surveying or a related field

Key perks and benefits:

  • Salary of £36,000 to £51,500, depending on experience
  • Bonus scheme tied to project performance
  • Private medical insurance and pension contribution
  • Generous annual leave with flexible working options
  • Office-based role in Cardiff, working alongside an experienced project team

Why pursue a career in Property & Construction?

Property & Construction rewards people who can hold a project together under pressure, and Cardiff’s development pipeline means that skill is in real demand right now. Progress here tends to be tangible. You can point at a finished building and say you managed that. Few sectors offer career paths this direct, from site coordination through to running entire capital programmes.
