In-House Commercial Lawyer | Risk & Compliance | London / Flexible UK
A leading international professional services organisation is seeking an experienced Contracts Lawyer to join its Risk & Compliance function.
This is a strategic role for a senior contracts specialist who can not only advise on complex contractual matters but also support, mentor and help develop a junior Contracts Lawyer as the team continues to grow.
Joining during a period of significant growth and investment, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the firm’s approach to contractual risk management, governance and commercial decision-making.
The role focuses on reviewing, negotiating and managing a broad range of commercial agreements, including client engagement terms, framework agreements, supplier contracts, service agreements and outside counsel guidelines. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, the successful individual will provide pragmatic legal advice while helping to manage contractual and regulatory risk.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating client and supplier contracts
- Advising on contractual risk, liability, indemnities, confidentiality, data protection and intellectual property matters
- Supporting compliance with regulatory and professional obligations
- Partnering with stakeholders across legal, risk, compliance and business services teams
- Developing contract management processes, guidance and best practice frameworks
- Delivering training and promoting contractual risk awareness across the business
- Mentoring and supporting a junior Contracts Lawyer, helping to build capability within the team
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives, including the use of technology and AI-enabled solutions in contract management
Ideal candidates will have:
- Qualified Solicitor status (England & Wales or equivalent common law jurisdiction)
- Around 8+ years’ PQE with strong commercial contracts experience
- A background in private practice, in-house legal, risk or compliance environments
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives
- Experience of professional services contracts and regulated environments would be particularly valuable
