As a Specialty Administrator Assistant, you will join a dedicated administration team within the Surgical Service Group at Musgrove Park Hospital. Working closely with Specialty Administrators, Team Leaders, clinical staff and operational colleagues, you will help provide an efficient and responsive service for patients and healthcare professionals.
This role offers a broad range of responsibilities, including managing telephone and email enquiries, supporting appointment and clinic administration, handling patient correspondence, maintaining health records and assisting with the smooth coordination of patient pathways. You will regularly communicate with patients and carers, providing clear and compassionate support while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
We’re looking for someone who can stay organised, prioritise effectively and remain calm when managing competing demands. You’ll need excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
To be successful, you will need:
- A minimum of five GCSEs, including English Language and Maths, or equivalent functional skills.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience communicating with patients, customers or service users.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Advanced keyboard and typing skills.
- Experience in a healthcare environment, knowledge of medical terminology and previous secretarial experience would be advantageous but are not essential.
