Classroom Talent is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, seeking to appoint an experienced and inspirational Head of Maths on a permanent basis from January 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and passionate Maths specialist to provide strategic leadership, drive academic achievement and support the continued development of a successful Mathematics department.
As Head of Maths, you will be responsible for leading and developing the department, ensuring consistently high standards of teaching and learning, and creating an environment where both students and staff can thrive.

Key Responsibilities.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Mathematics department.
- Lead, motivate and develop a team of Maths teachers.
- Oversee curriculum planning, delivery and assessment.
- Drive improvements in teaching, learning and student outcomes.
- Monitor student attainment and progress, implementing strategies to raise achievement.
- Support staff development through mentoring, coaching and professional development.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to contribute to whole-school priorities.
- Promote a positive learning environment with high expectations for all students.
Key Experience & Knowledge.
- Proven experience teaching Mathematics within a secondary school.
- Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the secondary Mathematics curriculum.
- Experience leading, mentoring or supporting teaching staff.
- A track record of delivering strong student outcomes.
- Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
- Experience using assessment data to monitor progress and drive improvement.
- The ability to inspire colleagues and promote outstanding teaching and learning.
- A clear vision for developing and strengthening a Mathematics department.
Key Qualifications.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS
- Degree in Mathematics or a relevant subject.

- MPS/UPS + £18,000 TLR1 allowance – England Pay Scale
