who enjoys being out in the field, solving technical problems and working directly with customers.The role will involve travelling throughout the UK as well as internationally to support a range of highly automated machinery, including CNC drilling and milling machines, automated saws, laser and plasma cutting systems, beam and plate processing machinery, and pipe and tube processing equipment.The successful engineer can be based around the
Manchester area or Midlands , with the position involving regular travel to customer sites.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, fault finding and technical support of specialist CNC and automated machinery at customer sites.Your responsibilities will include:Service, maintenance and fault finding on CNC machineryElectrical and mechanical troubleshootingWorking with CNC control systems and PLC-controlled equipmentFault finding on Beckhoff PLC systemsDiagnosing issues with servo drives and control systemsMaintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systemsWorking on CNC laser cutting equipmentSupporting drilling, milling and automated sawing machineryWorking with beam, plate, profile, pipe and tube processing equipmentAttending customer sites throughout the UKInternational travel when requiredProviding a professional and technically focused service to customersThe machinery incorporates CNC controls, Beckhoff PLCs, servo drives, hydraulics and pneumatics, with additional Beckhoff PLC training available.
The Successful Field Service Engineer
We are looking for an engineer with a strong technical background who is comfortable working independently in a field-based environment.You will ideally have:Previous Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer or Commissioning Engineer experienceStrong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skillsExperience working with CNC machinery or steel processing equipmentCNC laser experiencePLC fault-finding experienceExperience with servo drives and electrical control systemsKnowledge of hydraulics and pneumaticsExperience within machine tools, CNC, automation or industrial machineryA minimum
NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship or equivalent time-served engineering backgroundFlexibility to travel throughout the UK and internationallyA customer-focused approach and the ability to work independentlyPrevious experience with
CNC lasers is particularly important
