We’re recruiting for an established international engineering and manufacturing business looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of electrical systems across modular HVAC, packaged plant room and capital equipment projects.
This is a technically focused role combining hands-on electrical design, compliance and close collaboration with mechanical, controls and manufacturing teams.
What you’ll be doing
Produce electrical designs in line with project specifications and internal standardsCarry out supply, load, earthing and cable sizing assessmentsPrepare load schedules, cable calculations and protection studiesProduce Single Line Diagrams, cable schedules, switchboard layouts and earthing diagramsUse Trimble ProDesign or equivalent software for electrical calculations and designReview P&IDs, mechanical information and equipment data to inform designsEnsure designs comply with BS 7671 and other applicable electrical standardsSupport design reviews and technical assuranceMaintain accurate drawing revisions, design records and change documentationWork closely with mechanical, controls, manufacturing and project teamsSupport production and procurement with technical queries and design changesContribute to design standardisation and continuous improvementWhat we’re looking forYou’ll need previous electrical design experience within building services, packaged plant rooms, industrial systems or a similar engineering environment.
You should also have:Degree, HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experienceStrong working knowledge of BS 7671:2018Experience producing SLDs, cable schedules and electrical calculationsGood understanding of earthing, bonding, protection and discriminationExperience using Trimble ProDesign or equivalent electrical design softwareAbility to interpret technical specifications, P&IDs and equipment dataStrong technical documentation and attention to detailAbility to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience with modular plant, BIM/Revit or CAD-based electrical drafting would be advantageous.
