Management Accountant | Leeds | £45,000 to £50,000
Working pattern: Hybrid
I’m recruiting a Management Accountant in Leeds. It suits someone who already runs a month end and wants to own it properly: the accounts, the commentary and the conversations with budget holders, plus a junior to bring on.
The business
An established international services business with a shared services finance team in Leeds. The finance team supports a large, busy operation, so the month end is real and the numbers get used. They’re keen to do more with data and automation, and want someone who’ll help with that rather than just keep the wheels turning.
The role
You’d prepare the monthly management accounts and write the commentary on performance against budget, forecast and last year.
You’d own the balance sheet reconciliations, clear aged items and flag control risks early.
You’d look after cost centre reporting and sit down with budget holders to explain their numbers.
You’d monitor capital spend against budget and report on it.
You’d manage and develop an Assistant Accountant, setting priorities and reviewing their work.
You’d tidy up and automate processes, and look at sensible ways to use AI in finance.
You’d support budgets, forecasts, VAT returns and ad hoc analysis.
The person
Part-qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA
You’ve prepared monthly management accounts and commentary, and you know your balance sheet reconciliations and month-end controls.
Strong Excel and comfortable with large datasets. Experience with BI or automation tools helps.
Confident explaining the numbers to people outside finance.
Supervising or mentoring a junior is a plus, not essential.
