About Us:
Located in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London’s largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.
With exceptional schools, lush green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and world-renowned institutions such as St Thomas’s Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching and dynamic environment.
Lambeth’s Adult Learning Disabilities Team is a passionate and committed service dedicated to supporting adults with learning disabilities to live healthy, independent and fulfilling lives within their communities.
The team works closely with health professionals, families, carers, housing providers and voluntary sector partners to deliver person-centred, strengths-based support. Our practice is focused on promoting independence, achieving positive outcomes and ensuring people have choice and control over how they live their lives.
We are proud of our collaborative team culture, where staff are supported to develop professionally while delivering high-quality services to some of Lambeth’s most vulnerable residents.
About the Role:
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Social Workers to join our Adult Learning Disabilities Team.
As a Social Worker, you will manage a varied caseload and undertake assessments, reviews and support planning in line with the Care Act 2014. You will work alongside residents, carers and partner agencies to identify strengths, build resilience and develop creative solutions that enable individuals to achieve their goals and maximise their independence.
The role includes:
- Completing Care Act assessments, reviews and support plans.
- Managing safeguarding enquiries and promoting positive risk management.
- Working within a strengths-based and person-centred framework.
- Undertaking Mental Capacity Act assessments and Best Interest processes where required.
- Building effective partnerships with health colleagues and community organisations.
- Supporting adults with learning disabilities to access services, opportunities and resources that improve wellbeing and quality of life.
- Maintaining accurate records and delivering high quality social work practice in line with professional standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for Social Workers who are committed to making a positive difference and who want to work within a supportive team environment that values learning, development and innovation.
Adult Social Care in Lambeth is one of the highest performing services in the country. In 2026, we received a strong overall “Good” rating from the Care Quality Commission and our commitment to equity and inclusion in the borough was rated as “Outstanding”.
At Lambeth, we are dedicated to providing quality services and equal opportunities for all. We are committed to safer recruitment and are proud to be a Stonewall diversity champion, a Living Wage Employer, and to guarantee interviews for all disabled candidates who meet the minimum criteria of the role.
