Overview

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in London to lead mechanical building services design for commercial and mixed-use projects. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality designs and mentor junior engineers. The role combines technical leadership with client-facing liaising to manage scope, budget, and schedule on high-profile developments. You’ll contribute to sustainable design and best-practice delivery within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, public health) to meet project requirements and standards
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, architects, and structural engineers to resolve design and spatial issues
• Prepare and review design calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings for accuracy and compliance
• Manage mechanical design packages throughout the project lifecycle, liaising with clients to maintain programme and budget
• Support and mentor junior engineers to promote best practice and high technical standards

Key requirements

• 4+ years in a mechanical design/building services role
• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a relevant discipline
• Must be based within a commutable distance of London
