Menswear Designer

Douglas & Grahame is an established independent fashion house with over 100 years of heritage and a portfolio of respected menswear brands, including REMUS UOMO, Douglas, DG’s Drifter and Daniel Grahame, alongside its established schoolwear brand, 1880 CLUB.
We are looking for an experienced Menswear Designer to join our team in Carrickfergus and play a key role in creating and developing seasonal garment collections across our portfolio of brands.
This is an opportunity to combine creativity with commercial thinking, taking designs from initial concept through to sampling and production while ensuring each collection reflects the individual brand identity, meets quality standards and works within agreed cost structures.
About the role
As Menswear Designer, you will be responsible for the design and development of new garment collections, working across a range of established menswear brands and product categories.
You will:
– Research current and emerging menswear trends and translate these into commercially relevant collections.– Develop garment designs that reflect the individual brand DNA and customer requirements.– Create and develop seasonal collections from initial concepts through to final production.– Produce and maintain accurate style and size specifications for samples and bulk production.– Use CAD and design software to develop and communicate garment designs.– Work closely with product development and manufacturing partners throughout the sampling and production process.– Ensure products meet required quality standards and remain within agreed cost structures.– Develop appropriate branding and presentation in line with individual brand guidelines.– Balance creative design with commercial, technical and production requirements.
The organisation’s product portfolio is designed in-house, manufactured offshore, shipped to our headquarters in Carrickfergus and distributed to retailers across the UK, Republic of Ireland and Europe. This provides the opportunity to be involved in the full product development journey, from design concept through to finished garment.
We are looking for a designer with previous professional experience and a strong understanding of menswear and garment design.
You will have:
– Essential previous experience working as a Designer.– Experience creating and developing fashion garment collections.– A strong understanding of menswear trends, design and commercial fashion.– A creative approach combined with a strong commercial awareness.– Excellent attention to detail and an understanding of garment construction and product development.– Excellent CAD and IT skills.– Experience using CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop.– A relevant degree or qualification in Fashion, Design or a related discipline.– Most importantly, you’ll have a strong eye for design and the ability to create dynamic, commercially focused collections while maintaining the distinctive identity of each brand.
