Overview

As Staff Engineer in Brokerage Services at IG Group, you will accelerate AI-driven engineering across our trading-focused platforms. You’ll own and evolve internal tooling that weaves AI into coding, testing, deployments, and defect triage, while raising cross-team adoption. You’ll champion observable AI pipelines, automate repetitive steps, and collaborate with product, security, and compliance to deliver value safely. This is a hands-on role that shapes the future of AI-assisted development across a regulated, high-scale environment. You’ll be a technical authority who mentors others and demonstrates impact through data-driven improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal AI-enabled tooling for coding, testing, deployments, and defect triage
• Build observability into the AI pipeline to show actions, detections, and gaps
• Automate manual steps in coding, testing, and release processes
• Deliver small, releasable pieces and ship continuously
• Collaborate with product to ground work in real delivery
• Drive AI adoption and improvements as an ongoing value driver
• Partner with test and PM to integrate AI into the testing pipeline
• Evaluate, pilot, and roll out LLM-based tools (e.g., Claude Code) with Jira, Confluence, and GitLab
• Set standards for responsible AI use in SDLC: data handling, prompts, guardrails
• Mentor engineers on AI tooling and act as technical authority on AI practices
• Coordinate with security/compliance to meet regulatory data-handling requirements
• Define and track metrics (cycle time, defect escape, test coverage, delivery turnaround)

Key requirements

• Significant experience as a senior or staff-level engineer with credible technical reputation
• Deep backend expertise and ownership of shared service architecture
• Fluency in test-driven development and pair programming
• Full-lifecycle ownership: design, build, deploy, and production support
• Strong automation mindset and appetite for removing manual steps
• Experience evaluating or building with LLM-based developer tools in a real engineering environment
