HGV Mechanic – Belfast

HGV MechanicVANRATH are delighted to be recruiting an experienced HGV Mechanic for a well-established Northern Ireland distribution business with a large, busy fleet. Our client is looking for a skilled, self-motivated mechanic to join its transport department and help keep vehicles safe, reliable and on the road.

Location: BelfastSalary: £18.00 – £20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experienceHours: Permanent, full-time

About the RoleKey Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of heavy vehicles
• Carrying out routine inspections and preparing vehicles for annual test
• Diagnosing faults using modern diagnostic equipment
• Completing engine and gearbox repairs, overhauls and replacements
• Attending roadside breakdowns when required
• Carrying out electrical and welding work
• Reporting vehicle defects and keeping accurate maintenance records
• Ordering parts and liaising with suppliers
• Following health and safety procedures at all times

What You Will NeedEssential

• City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC or NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (or equivalent)
• Workshop experience in a similar role within the last 2 years
• Confident using modern diagnostic equipment
• Basic computer skills
• Full, valid driving licence
• Able to work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a team

• HGV licence
