VANRATH is recruiting for a Senior Java Engineer to join a leading global financial technology business in Belfast.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-performance Java applications supporting electronic trading platforms and financial markets worldwide.
You’ll join an established, collaborative engineering team working with modern technologies, tackling interesting technical challenges and developing software used in a fast-moving global environment.

What you’ll be doing
Designing, developing and enhancing backend applications using Java and Spring
Building reliable, scalable software supporting global trading platforms
Working with multithreading, concurrency and messaging technologies
Improving application performance, stability and maintainability
Collaborating with developers, product teams and stakeholders to deliver new features
Contributing to automated testing, code quality and continuous improvement
What we’re looking for
Strong commercial experience with Java and Spring Framework / Spring Boot
Good understanding of multithreading, concurrency and object-oriented programming
Experience with SQL, Oracle PL/SQL and Linux
Knowledge of network programming and backend application development
Experience with automated testing and writing clean, maintainable code
Familiarity with messaging middleware or event-driven architectures
Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to development
Nice to have, but not essential
Experience within financial services, trading or fintech
Knowledge of Solace or other messaging technologies
Exposure to Angular, TypeScript or JavaScript
