Advanced Specialist, Quality Assurance Engineer

Overview

In this role you drive the performance, scalability and reliability of TOpS applications by designing, executing, and automating performance tests. You collaborate with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and ensure systems meet demanding business and user expectations. You design and run stress tests, analyze results, and maintain automated testing scripts and frameworks. You may support out-of-hours testing during critical periods while ensuring quality across high-visibility releases.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute performance and stress tests for TOpS applications focusing on responsiveness and stability under load
• Analyze test results, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues
• Develop and maintain automated performance testing scripts and frameworks
• Ensure test coverage for critical integrations and high-visibility releases
• Support occasional out-of-hours testing during business-critical periods

Key requirements

• Performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner)
• Test automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Java)
• Analytical problem-solving and root cause analysis
• Defect tracking and requirements analysis
• Collaboration and effective communication in Agile teams
• Pearson Power Skills: Adaptability (Intermediate), Artificial Intelligence (Effective), Learning to Learn (Intermediate)
• Experience designing and executing performance tests for complex applications
• Hands-on expertise with performance testing tools and automation frameworks
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
