Snowflake Data Architect (hands-on, contract)

Contract | London – Up to £550/day Outside IR35

We’re working with a client that’s investing heavily in its cloud data platform and is looking for an experienced Senior Data Architect contractor to replace their technical lead in the business. The successful candidate will have demonstrated they can lead the design and delivery of enterprise-scale Snowflake solutions.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex data architecture projects, shaping modern data platforms that support analytics, AI, and real-time decision-making.

What you’ll be doing

• Architecting and delivering Snowflake-based data platforms on AWS and Azure.
• Designing scalable data lakehouse, medallion, and Data Vault architectures.
• Building real-time and near real-time data pipelines using modern cloud technologies.
• Defining data modelling standards, governance frameworks and best practices.
• Leveraging Snowflake Cortex AI to accelerate data engineering and analytics capabilities.
• Working with stakeholders across data, technology and business teams to deliver strategic outcomes.
• Strong commercial experience with Snowflake Architecture.
• Expertise in Data Modelling, including Data Vault 2.0.
• Experience designing cloud-native data platforms on AWS and/or Azure.
• Proven background delivering large-scale data migrations and modernisation programmes.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with DBT, SQLMesh, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg or similar modern tooling.
• Snowflake Cortex AI.
• Python and data engineering automation.
• Financial Services, Insurance or highly regulated environments.
