Fire Alarm Engineer – Key Responsibilities

• Routine Servicing:Perform planned preventative maintenance on conventional and addressable fire alarm systems.
• Fault Finding:Diagnose and repair electrical issues, device failures, or panel errors.
• Installation & Small Works:Fit new loops, sounders, call points, or complete full system commissioning.
• Compliance Testing:Check emergency lighting and fire suppression interfaces.
• Documentation:Complete accurate service sheets, certificates, and logbook updates.
• Call-Out:urgent reactive callouts sometimes required.

Fire Alarm Engineer – Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience:Proven field background in fire alarm maintenance or installation.
• Standards Knowledge:Strong working knowledge of BS 5839 and related health and safety rules.
• DBS – Fire alarm engineers preferably need to be DBS checked and dependant on work offered will require an enhanced DBS if offered Schools etc.
• Licence:Full valid driving licence.
• Certifications:Fire Industry Association (FIA) modules or equivalent trade qualifications.
• Skills:All Fire alarm engineer applicantsneed to have, good problem-solving abilities and clear customer communication.
