Location: South London (Hybrid, 2 days in office)
Contract: 6 months

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Special Projects Contracts Manager to join a South London Local Authority on an initial 6-month contract.
This role will focus on managing high-risk building safety and fire compliance contracts across a large social housing portfolio, with a particular emphasis on end-to-end procurement and contractor management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end procurement exercises, including developing specifications, tendering, evaluation, contract award and mobilisation.
- Manage specialist contractors delivering fire safety investigations, external wall assessments and compliance surveys.
- Monitor contractor performance, ensuring delivery against agreed KPIs, budgets and timescales.
- Oversee contract administration, financial management and compliance with relevant building safety regulations.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, consultants and legal teams to manage contractual risks and support remediation programmes.
Essential Experience
- Strong contract management experience within social housing, ideally within a local authority or housing association.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end procurement exercises within a social housing environment.
- Experience managing contractors throughout the full contract lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of housing governance, procurement processes and commercial contract management.
- Experience in fire safety, building compliance, planned maintenance or repairs contracts would be highly advantageous.
Please note:
This is not a purely procurement-focused position. Candidates must demonstrate both hands-on procurement experience and strong contractor management skills within social housing.
