Location: Portsmouth (BroadOak) or Frimley, Filton, Dorchester, hybrid – 3 days on site – thisrole will require routine travel to other southern BAE sites withinUK and occasionally internationally.
Salary: Up to £89, 520dependent on experience

What you’ll bedoing:
As a Senior Mission SystemArchitect (Payload), you will lead the design, integration andassurance of maritime mission system payloads, including sensors,effectors, ISR and autonomous capabilities. Youwill define modular, vendor-agnostic architectures that enablepayloads to operate effectively across complex force-level environments.Working closely with customers, suppliers and programme teams, youwill ensure solutions are interoperable, resilient and optimisedfor maritime operations. Your expertise will help shape futurepayload strategies, influence architectural direction and supportthe delivery of next-generation mission capabilities for domesticand export programmes.
Coreduties:
- Lead architecture for sensors,effectors, ISR and mission payloads.
- Definepayload integration standards, interfaces and design principles.
- Ensure interoperability across platforms, mission systemsand off-board assets.
- Embed safety,survivability and assurance within payloadarchitectures.
- Champion open, modular andscalable payload solutions.
- Influencestakeholders on payload strategy and integrationapproaches.
Essentialskills:
- A degree inEngineering (or a related subject)
- Fullmembership of an appropriate engineering institution and be aChartered Engineer (or actively workingtowards).
- Extensive experience in maritimepayload integration and system-of-systems architecture.
- Deep knowledge of defence sensors, effectors, ISR andmission systems.
