Sports Coach / Experienced LSA – Secondary Schools
Are you an experienced Sports Coach, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant looking to take your skills into a secondary school setting?
Milk Education is currently recruiting Sports Coaches and experienced LSAs to work across secondary schools in Durham and the wider Durham area, with a range of short-term and long-term opportunities available.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in sport who enjoys working with young people and wants to use their skills to support students both inside and outside of the classroom.
The Role
As a Sports Coach / LSA, you could be supporting students across a range of secondary school settings, including students who may require additional support with their learning, behaviour, confidence or engagement.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 or small-group basis
- Providing classroom and learning support across different subjects
- Using your sporting background to engage and motivate students
- Supporting students with behaviour, confidence and emotional regulation
- Helping students develop positive relationships and teamwork skills
- Supporting PE lessons and extracurricular sporting activities where required
- Working alongside teachers and pastoral/SEND teams
- Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day
- Helping students develop their confidence, independence and social skills
We Would Love to Hear From You If You Have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience as a Sports Coach, Sports Graduate, Teaching Assistant, LSA, Youth Worker or similar
- A passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to manage challenging behaviour confidently and positively
- Experience supporting students with additional needs is desirable but not essential
- A proactive, patient and resilient approach
