Duties as a Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Work on a one-to-one basis and with small groups of students
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
- Help students develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
- Support pupils with academic, social, emotional, and communication needs
- Promote inclusion and ensure students can access the curriculum effectively
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the SEND department
Ideal Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Previous SEND experience is essential
- Experience working within a secondary school setting is desirable
- Understanding of a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
