Overview

As an Associate in our Healthcare Team, you will manage a portfolio of high-value defendant clinical negligence matters for private insurers. You will provide expert advice, draft and review documents, and represent clients in court, mediations, and settlements. The role is hybrid and open to candidates anywhere in the UK who can attend a DWF office. You will collaborate across the team to deliver high-quality service and identify development opportunities. This is a chance to shape strategy on complex cases while growing your leadership and BD capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of high-value defendant clinical negligence matters from inception to resolution
• Provide expert legal advice, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating case documents
• Conduct legal research and analysis to inform strategy and decision-making
• Draft and review pleadings, witness statements, and correspondence
• Liaise with clients, medical professionals, and experts to gather evidence
• Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
• Maintain accurate case files and documentation
• Collaborate with colleagues across the Healthcare Team to ensure quality service
• Identify opportunities for business development
• Assist with client care matters as required

Key requirements

• 3+ years PQE in clinical negligence
• Experience handling complex defendant clinical negligence cases
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in using legal research tools and software
• Experience supervising more junior team members
