Associate Director / Director – Building Surveyor

Overview

As Associate Director/Director in Building Surveying, you will lead and grow the London team within a national practice focused on delivering high-quality survey outputs and strategic leadership. You’ll oversee complex projects, manage client relationships, and drive business development and bids to support growth. You will mentor surveyors, set technical direction, and ensure safe, compliant delivery across public and private sector clients. Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across complex projects and programmes, tracking progress, budgets and team performance
• Manage and develop a team of surveyors with coaching and pastoral support
• Develop and maintain client relationships while identifying new business opportunities
• Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, specifications and designs
• Lead business development, client engagement, bid preparation and fee proposals
• Contribute to Discipline Business Plan and wider Building Surveying objectives
• Own significant client accounts or sector responsibilities to drive growth
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and procedures

Key requirements

• Chartered Status with substantial relevant experience including team management
• RICS or MCIOB qualification
• Strong technical knowledge with business development capabilities
• Excellent bid writing and client presentation skills
• Broad industry knowledge across multiple sectors
• Ability to plan and programme projects and manage workload and resources
• Strong leadership, critical thinking and decision-making skills
