Forensic or General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist

Overview

In this role you will lead psychiatric care for adult women with complex mental health needs at Arbury Court, supporting a secure ward and multi-disciplinary teams. You will deliver treatment programmes, manage health concerns, and apply individualized care approaches within a respected service. The post offers on-call duties, opportunities for extra locum shifts, and a supportive peer network as part of a large healthcare group. Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for women referred to the unit
• Deliver and coordinate care programmes for adult women
• Drive multidisciplinary care and collaboration across teams
• Contribute to service development and governance through quality improvement activities
• Build relationships with external stakeholders (e.g., NHS England case managers)
• Provide oral and written evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers’ hearings
• Stay up to date with developments via conferences and courses
• Support on-call duties and participate in locum shifts as needed

Key requirements

• Full GMC registration and Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
• On or about to join the GMC specialist register for forensic or general adult psychiatry
• Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
• Good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and up to date with appraisals
