Overview

As an Associate at Gardiner & Theobald you contribute to growing our cost management practice while delivering world-class service to a diverse client base. You will manage pre- and post-contract activities on high-profile projects across built environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership. The role combines client-facing leadership with hands-on cost planning, procurement, and post-contract management to keep projects within budget. This is a chance to influence project outcomes, mentor colleagues, and help shape the firm’s growth and ESG initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement planning and strategy development for multi-package projects
  • Lead tender evaluations, prepare Tender Reports, and manage procurement documentation
  • Post-contract management: cost reports, cashflow forecasts, change control, and interim valuations
  • Cost planning, estimating and benchmarking across design and construction stages
  • Risk identification and mitigation strategies for projects
  • Client and stakeholder engagement across levels, with strong report writing and presentations
  • Guide and develop team members; contribute to business growth and internal initiatives

Key requirements

  • MRICS
  • Degree qualified
  • Pre and post contract experience
  • Experience with single and two-stage procurement routes
  • Consultancy environment experience (desirable)
  • Ability to work independently and in client-focused settings
  • Experience with Microsoft platforms and CostX
  • Proven leadership and team-development skills
  • Strong communication and coordination with internal and client teams
