Associate Cost Consultant

Overview

As an Associate Cost Consultant, you support the cost planning for critical electricity transmission projects, shaping bids and cost plans for high-voltage infrastructure. You collaborate with sourcing, contracts, and project teams to improve accuracy and drive winning strategies. Your work helps optimise project outcomes while advancing Arcadis’ planet-positive mission. This role offers impact across overhead lines, substations, and cable systems in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost plans and estimates for civil, mechanical, and electrical works on high-voltage projects (132kV–400kV)
• Provide insights to support project development, cost-benefit analyses, risk/opportunity identification, and strategy for project optimisation
• Conduct bid analysis and benchmarking, presenting findings to project teams to inform decisions

Key requirements

• 10+ years of infrastructure cost planning and estimating in Electrical Transmission
• Deep knowledge of high-voltage construction (overhead lines, substations, cable systems)
• Strong ability to interpret drawings, specs, and project docs
• Proficiency with cost planning/estimating software (CANDY, Cost-X)
• Professional membership (CIOB, RICS, ICE, etc.)
• Ability to manage small to medium teams (up to 5 resources)
• Desirable: BPSS and Security Check clearance
• Desirable: project risk assessment and contingency planning experience
• Desirable: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
