Overview
In this role you will lead the charity’s property law disputes across its operational estate, advising on title, boundaries, easements and other rights. You’ll work collaboratively with surveyors and projects teams to support new initiatives, while supervising junior lawyers and a paralegal. The role involves handling high‑value disputes, including unregistered land and historic titles, and coordinating with external solicitors. You’ll provide strategic legal risk guidance to senior stakeholders and contribute to the charity’s statutory powers and environmental considerations. Responsibilities
- Own conduct of property law disputes for the charity’s operational estate (title, trespass, boundary disputes, easements, covenants, nuisance)
- Lead high‑value disputes related to asset and infrastructure responsibilities with public/third sector collaborators
- Manage legal risk on property disputes and provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders
- Supervise junior lawyer and paralegal; coordinate with Claims Manager
- Liaise with external solicitors and Counsel to ensure effective external handling of property matters
Key requirements
- 10+ PQE in property law
- Senior property litigator with substantial experience in disputes involving land, titles and infrastructure
- Strong communication, negotiation and litigation skills
- Ability to gain credibility with stakeholders across a multidisciplinary charity
