Overview
In this role you will assess and support student mental health needs, making timely risk-informed decisions and coordinating care with university services and external NHS partners. You’ll work within a small, multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, stabilization, and signposting, while also delivering training and consultancy to Imperial staff. The position offers a chance to shape student wellbeing through proactive risk management and collaborative care pathways. You will engage with students and staff to strengthen support across the university community.

Responsibilities
- Engage with students to build supportive relationships around mental health
- Perform timely mental health and risk assessments and determine appropriate responses
- Coordinate care with internal teams, NHS services and external agencies for referrals
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships for better communication and referrals
- Deliver mental health workshops and training for staff and students
- Provide guidance on signposting and onward referral pathways
- Support staff by offering consultancy on mental health issues
- Promote student-centred, pragmatic approaches within a fast-paced environment
Key requirements
- Professionally registered mental health professional (Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist or equivalent)
- Substantial clinical mental health experience in statutory services (SPA, Crisis, Liaison, Community Mental Health)
- Advanced risk-assessment and formulation skills with rapid decision-making
- Experience working with multidisciplinary networks and external agencies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining clinical judgement
- Flexible, collaborative, and student-centred clinician
- Proven ability to provide advice and support on acute and enduring mental health difficulties
