Overview

In this role you will steer day-to-day operations and strategic delivery of the Digital & Information Services to support world-class clinical care and patient safety. You’ll bridge vision and execution, leveraging AI, ICT and information to drive performance within a high-impact NHS environment. You will lead the ICT, data, and cyber security roadmap, ensure robust governance, and guide major digital initiatives during a period of strategic transformation. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic ICT plans aligned with Trust goals
  • Design and execute technology roadmaps for data centres, cloud, applications, networks and cyber security
  • Research emerging technologies to drive service improvement
  • Provide day-to-day leadership of the Digital & Information Services department
  • Own operational performance management across service levels, availability, capacity, incidents and prioritisation
  • Ensure robust governance including change control and clinical safety assurance
  • Lead major incidents response for digital services with rapid recovery and post-incident learning
  • Translate digital strategy into delivery plans with milestones and measurable outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardisation of IT service management processes

Key requirements

  • Significant management experience in ICT within complex environments (NHS) at director level or above
  • Experience of day-to-day management of large-scale ICT services, infrastructure and cyber security operations
  • Experience managing significant budgets (>£4m-£10m)
  • Stakeholder engagement and senior-level communication, including policy and strategy development
  • Experience of corporate decision-making and delegated risk management
  • Line-management of multidisciplinary teams and supplier relationship management
  • In-depth knowledge of ICT systems, data-driven operational outcomes and NHS regulations (Data Protection Act 2018, NIS Regulations, UK GDPR, DSPT)
  • Experience with multi-vendor platforms and complex transformation programmes
  • Knowledge of OJEU procurement and contract processes
  • Desirable: EPR implementation experience; ISO27001 / ISMS familiarity
  • Exceptional leadership and team management
  • Strong communication and report-writing abilities
  • Analytical, planning and organisational skills
  • Advanced IT skills and AI prompting experience
  • Knowledge of data-driven operational outcomes
  • Cyber security operations
