Associate – Planning – Birmingham

Overview

In this role you will advance the firm’s national planning offering, supporting a growing team across London, Exeter and Manchester. You will work on a mix of contentious and non-contentious planning matters, collaborating with planning partners and other specialist teams. The role offers significant development potential, with exposure to high-profile regeneration and development projects and client-facing responsibilities. Responsibilities

• Handle complex planning applications with legal reviews and strategic input
• Manage Section 106 and Section 278 agreements
• Provide planning advice for major development schemes in waste, affordable housing, and private developer sectors
• Act for planning authorities and registered providers in relation to CPO work and enforcement
• Support planning due diligence on commercial and corporate transactions
• Build and maintain client relationships and participate in marketing
• Ensure files comply with Lexcel procedures and contribute to training of junior staff

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor with up to 5 years’ experience in planning work
• Strong academic record
• Exceptional technical legal skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Unwavering client focus with a track record of superior service delivery

• Natural credibility and gravitas in client-facing situations
