Overview

In this role you will lead HSE on a major EPC contract in Grangemouth, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and client standards. You will partner with project teams, clients, and contractors to drive a positive safety culture and continuous HSE improvement. You will conduct risk assessments, audits, investigations, and oversight of HSE management systems. You will report on performance and regulatory liaison to support safe design, operation and maintenance. This role offers a chance to shape safety practices on a high-profile project within a seasoned engineering staffing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the HSE representative at project level, providing professional HSE support and advice to project teams, clients, contractors and vendors
  • Support Project Management teams in developing, planning and implementing HSE objectives in line with contractual requirements
  • Ensure HSE considerations are integrated into all phases of project delivery
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, external agencies and relevant industry organisations
  • Gather, analyse and report HSE performance statistics on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Monitor adherence to HSE policies, procedures and management systems
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, inspections and audits to identify potential hazards
  • Develop and implement control measures to mitigate risk
  • Lead investigations into incidents, near misses and non-conformances
  • Develop and execute annual HSE audit programmes
  • Ensure timely reporting, investigation and close-out of HSE incidents
  • Develop and implement HSE improvement plans
  • Ensure all personnel receive HSE induction training and understand relevant procedures
  • Promote a proactive HSE culture that encourages engagement, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Lead by example, challenging unsafe behaviours and promoting safe working standards
  • conduct performance reviews for direct reports and contribute to policy improvements

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in an HSE leadership role within energy, engineering, EPC, petrochemical, industrial or related sectors
  • Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and industry best practice
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive a positive safety culture
