Senior Site Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the delivery of construction projects from inception to completion within a main contractor environment. You will drive safety, quality, and programme adherence while managing site operations and budgets. You’ll build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure successful outcomes. You will champion continuous improvement and embody the company’s culture and values. This is a leadership position with a clear impact on project performance and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day site operations ensuring safety, programme alignment, and compliance with contractual requirements
• Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
• Implement Health & Safety, Quality, Sustainability, Environmental Management, and Business Management System policies
• Identify and resolve project issues, drive continuous improvement, and maintain accurate compliance records
• Manage and develop site teams, including line management, performance reviews, and mentoring of junior staff

Key requirements

• Extensive experience as Site Manager/Senior Site Manager in a main contractor environment
• Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant construction discipline
• SMSTS qualification and a valid CSCS Card
• Strong commercial/financial awareness with knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working in secure or prison environments (desirable) and ability to obtain security clearance if required
