Overview

As Industrial Market Sector Director, you will steer the sector’s strategy, pursuing opportunities and serving as a pursuit champion. You’ll act as a key resource across HDR pursuits, shaping how we win work and serve clients in the industrial field. You will lead cross‑functional collaboration to align market initiatives with HDR’s goals while expanding client relationships and staff growth. This role offers the chance to influence HDR’s leadership in the industrial sector and contribute to a culture of inclusion and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the sector’s vision and strategic direction for growth in the industrial market
• Manage client relationships and act as project manager for pursuits and assignments
• Coordinate cross‑sector collaboration to develop and deliver market sector initiatives
• Promote HDR services with client managers and support business development
• Identify investments (acquisitions/technology) to maintain industry leadership
• Recruit and develop staff for the commercial real estate/industrial sector
• Oversee QA/QC, risk management, and contract reviews on key projects
• Monitor market sector performance metrics (profitability, AR, investments) and drive process improvements
• Foster industry participation and develop external relationships with clients and industry counterparts
• Lead or support project management assignments aligned with leadership goals
• Coordinate staffing plans and leverage resources for project delivery
• Disseminate lessons learned and promote continuous improvement

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• Minimum 12 years of industry experience with leadership
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships and grow a practice
• Experience managing budgets, staff, and operations
• Strategic marketplace analysis and positioning capabilities
